are the teachers starting to play their 'constructive criticism' games with you? you seem to have replaced enthusiasm with self-deprecation.
the teacher who suggested you should work from the heart rather than trying to be a good student is right.... but be very wary of letting negative comments influence your approach.
pay more attention to what HAS worked, not what hasn't :-)
